"The Song of Achilles" – Madaline Miller

The Song of Achilles is a literary gem in which Madeline Miller gives the myth
of Achilles and Patroclus a fresh, emotionally engaging dimension.
The story, narrated from Patroclus’s perspective, focuses on his relationship
with Achilles—from their first meeting in childhood, through years of training under the wise Chiron, to the dramatic events of the Trojan War.

Miller masterfully constructs the psychological portraits of her characters, portraying Achilles not only as an invincible hero but also as a young man torn between love and destiny. Patroclus, often sidelined in traditional myths, emerges as a fully realized narrator, whose sensitivity and loyalty lend
an intimate quality to the narrative. Their love, depicted with subtlety and sincerity, forms the heart of the story.

The author’s style is lyrical yet restrained—rich in vivid descriptions while remaining accessible. With extraordinary attention to detail, Miller intertwines historical and mythological facts, creating a tale that is both true to the spirit
of the Iliad and refreshingly original in its interpretation.

The Song of Achilles is not merely a reinterpretation of an ancient myth
but also a universal story about love, honor, and the inexorable pull of fate. Brimming with passion, beauty, and tragedy, it leaves an indelible mark on
the reader long after the final page is turned.

I think the author of this book connected old time with new and popular generation of literature. For me, she is a genius and this is masterpiece of young-poetry!
